One picture each day with an explanation and links isn’t always enough!
Asterisk exists to hold the overflow for Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD): commentary, classes on astronomy and cool physics, educational resources, seminars, and discussion forums. It also houses information on Citizen Science projects such as Moon Zoo and the Milky Way Project, and for researchers, the Astrophysics Source Code Library (ASCL).
The Asterisk* forum, set up by Robert Nemiroff (RJN), an APOD (co-) creator and editor, is the discussion site for each day’s APOD and all things astronomical. Please note that this is not a NASA site and that anything said here by anyone does not imply a statement by NASA or an endorsement from NASA.
Whether you’re an astrophysicist, an astronomy teacher, an astrophotographer, or someone who simply appreciates looking up, there’s likely something for you here, and if there isn’t, please let us know what’s missing. Thanks!
