Goddess of the heavens
sprinkles stars
over the sky.

Sorry about the meter.

Beautiful Venus,
with your cruel atmosphere.
I'm glad I'm on Earth.

(it's 5-7-5, Ann. You can do better.)
Just call me "geck" because "zilla" is like a last name.

Venus in the sky
You stand next to Pleiades.
The sisters love you.

Hey, I liked my first poem better!

Hillside at nightfall
The senses somehow heightened
Wonder at the sky

Stellar sapphires sit
in the hair of the lovely
Queen of the Planets.

You got me going, geckzilla! Starstuck, your meter is better than mine.

I clicked onto APOD and what did i see,
Everyone being a poet,
That is, except me.
To find the Truth, you must go Beyond.

Passing its sisters in the night
The evening’s journey long begun

There once was a lady from Venus,
Who said...

Oh, wait. Different tradition.

To the Japanese
Pleiades are 'Subaru'
Perfect for haiku.

btw- I was frustrated trying to register because none of the answers I could come up with (or find anywhere on the site) to the question "What is the Asterisk* about? (one word)" were valid. I tried 'star', 'follows', 'space', 'forum', 'word', before stumbling across, on a final try. I was this >.< close to giving up.

Do not confuse
A planet with a star
No way are they relations!

It's things like this
That really muddles people
Getting it right will help.

Venus happens to be
In line with the Pleiades
It's no big deal!

Asterisk was started as the Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) discussion forum. Reduce that to one word and you have what Asterisk is about. It's also in the header of every page.

It has been cloudy where we live in central Idaho so we missed the early April conjunction. This photo of conjunction was back on March 24. Venus, Jupiter, Pleiades and the new moon.

a weekend passing
on APOD they penned haiku
as I slept deeply

spring's first promise a fortnight past
basking trees - awaken!
