The speed of Geminid meteoroids above the atmosphere (V[sub]inf[/sub]) is 35 km/s. So when you see them burning up, air resistance has slowed (and is continuing to slow) them down. But just a little.

FWIW, Geminids are one of the slowest showers, and definitely the slowest major shower. That's part of what makes these meteors so impressive.
