In the lightpolluted skies in The Netherlands, narrowband imaging is the thing to do. I got 19 hours of subs with 5.nm Astrodon Hubble palet filters during 8 nights and needed 2 months of patience.
The setup is a 10" modified GSO RC with a QSI583WSG camera and SXV AOL active optics.

Just 5 x 1,000 second blue subs plus 5 x 200 second subs in each of red, green and blue, all at f/7 using a TEC 140 telescope plus an FLI ML16803 camera. Processing via PixInsight and Photoshop. More detail in this thread over at the Stargazer's Lounge.

Bob.

Gorgeous, Bob. The wisps/textures look like paint strokes.

Nice capture Thierry, the long exposure with moonlight
really brings out the landscape. Well done.

The sun had some great filaments yesterday. They went over more than 1/4th of the sun and continued over the edge as can be seen in this image.

Hunter's Moon

by Antonio Costa » Mon Oct 29, 2012 8:32 am

http://www.flickr.com/photos/a_costa/8134216753/
