Re: Recent Submissions

Every night has been the same thing. Tornados and lightning that I have never seen at such strong strength. Been unable to open the observatory so decided to point to the skys anyway. Using a DSLR and tripod I took this with a one second exposure looking west from north of Van Buren, AR. I am locate...

Re: Why isn't the Asterisk more popular?

I guess my lame hummor has struck again. I wasn't a bit serious about the use of images used on apod. I have been published 3 different times over the years. I did mean that the name might be a little off and I do think that the topic links should be refined or maybe shortened for a quicker eye cont...

Re: Why isn't the Asterisk more popular?

Well let me ask a couple of questions. If I told you the name was wrong -Asterisk-and I wanted to get a picture posted to APOD again, would this hurt my chances? :?: Second. What if I said that I have visited as a member for a while and was looking for a specific subject being discussed or possibly ...

http://www.fototime.com/BD880B0A6A9FAF1/orig.jpg For what it's worth. If you take out all the text if that is text and other distractions and look at the image it, to me , appears like the Sun and Moon together. Perhaps a 12 month calendar with 1/2 night and the other daytime. Perhaps a personal ca...

Comet C/2006 P1 - Telescope View

From 1/8/2007 this shows the comet with a 5" refractor and an astronomical ccd. This was shot through RGB and L filters. Gradients with the setting Sun to the lower left were big but the color is as it was imaged. The telescope was orented in a N/S giving the comet the level look behind a dista...

Comet 73P - Fragments B&G from 04/27/2006

Fragmented fragments with a 4" FSQ refractor and FLI CCD. Covers about 1x1.5 deg. fov. 3x40 sec exposures. Better to burn out than just fade away?

Comet C/2005 E2 Grows A Tail

At my location in W Arkansas, this is the best comet show in town. Taken 12/30/2005 with a 4" FSQ refractor and Maxcam10 ccd. It sits low in the S/SW sky at dark and has a mgnitude at this image time of about 10. Only thing is, the tail is pointing towards the Sun. Anti-tail? I don't know. :? :...

Comet C/2004 Q2 Tail Detail

Imaging sessions sometimes gather 2 or more gigs of information. Most of this is saved and processed as time allows. This is a mosaic that has 12 sub-frames contained in the 3 piece mosaic. Taken with a 4" refractor and CCD. N is up and E to the left. Information taken on 01/02/2005 from Van Bu...

Re: Moderatorship or Censorship?

I was recently accused in over-locking topics. Don't want repeat myself, so just go and check the link in my signature, if you care. Anyway, I'd like to hear everybody's voice. Did I locked to many topics for the sake of keeping forum clean? Should everybody be allowed to start a thread on their ow...

Please don't take the wrong but I have been a member of this forum for a while and really---I don't get it. What are these images used for? There is no detail. Most times it is one person wanting to know if someone else knows what it is. ---With the complete lack of detail, How would one know? The d...
