I love this image simply for the manner in which the three galaxies are positioned, aligned in near symmetrical fashion, as if placed by some artist in a painting, incoming flying saucers in a row on approach to invasion.

Wow. An iconic image for the images. If I had to choose just one picture that captures all that APOD yearns to convey about the wonders of the Universe, this has to be it, retitling it Rodin's Thinker Meets Thus Spoke Zarathustra.

Most of them take on an out-of-worldly appearance of beauty, in bizarre shapes, strange hues, looking almost like something but not quite so, just hang...

Images of such unimagined, awe-inspiring beauty evoke in me the scene from the movie "Contact" of Dr. Arrroway, played by Jodie Foster, breaking down, crying, emotionally overwrought by the magnificent view of space she manages to catch a glimpse of during her trip to the Vega system.

Breathtakingly spectacular image like nothing I have ever seen, the increased magnification capability maximizing its breadth and scope to the utmost. Beautifully eerie, profoundly haunting in a way that makes me feel as if having traveled back in time. Spooky. Wow.

Saturn's immense size as the solar system's second largest planet is breathtakingly demonstrated as seen alongside Mercury and Venus, appearing nearly equal in (luminous) size. Taking in consideration the distance/size/luminosity of the three, it's astonishing to see Saturn as brillliant as it is.
