If I can describe the event as having an "outer" and "inner" shell, both seem to be elongated along a similar alignment with the outer shell being "ruptured". Is there some outside event we are not seeing?

Best place? (APOD 22 Sep 2008)

Today has another great photo from Turkey, so many APOD's are coming from there - is that one of the best places in the world for astronomy and sky watching other than atop a mountain in the middle of the pacific?

You forget the effects of atmosphere and weathering which removes the majority of all but the biggest impact events.

For me, I can't see any craters, only cones with their tops neatly sliced off.

Sorry don't know if it is but doesn't remind me of anything I've seen before. 10/10 for the photographer tho.

Is it an urban myth but I was told that per sq mile the UK has more tornadoes than anywhere else?

At the very bottom of the picture is a small outcropping of what looks like a layered rock strata, from water perhaps? With old volcanic boulders lying on top - are there places on earth where this exists or does it present a unique situation?

Presumedly the "centre" of the universe is the point of the original "bang" and is known. Is there anything there of interest?
