DirecTv guide for NASA TV doesn't show coverage for the event on the 4th. Anybody know anything about that?

I always enjoy going back to Canaveral even though it's only through a spectacular photo'. Your last line should have the word "apparently" before "motionless". I assert the satellite will have considerable inertial velocity.

By extrapolating from a carefully selected and limited data set one could project nearly any desired conclusion. Why wasn't the data for the period from 1990 to 2008 included? I think you're right about the HAT. I searched all the APOD Shuttle pictures, but found none that shows the bird on the pad prelaunch. However, the picture of 1995 Aug 6 shows the HAT swung clear immediately after launch. BTW there is no top restraint when the Shuttle is mounted on the Crawler. See,...

I was going to ask the following question. If Neptune emits more light than it receives from the Sun, then why do we see a shadow?
