Re: APOD: Comet and Lightning Beyond Bighorn... (2020 Jul 27)

Beautiful photo, but please be more precise when you use the term "triple conjunction". It is so common to use it wrongly but from APOD I expect more. A triple conjunction is when there are 3 conjunctions in a row between two objects, since one of them is in retrograde motion. Not every pl...

Re: APOD: The Bull's Eye and the Young Moon (2017 May 05)

I have no idea how I forgot to observe this event. There was No occultation for my area, just a very close together as in the picture as the moon sets :-(
Anyway I will like to share a video I took of a daylight reappearance after occultation

Great photo! I've counted at least 40 other galaxies and that without looking at the high resolution picture.

Re: APOD: GOES-16: Moon over Planet Earth (2017 Jan 26)

Very nice photo. While the moon looks more or less the same as many other photos from Earth the background makes this image unique. I wrote a post with a collection of Earth from Space photos, and while this is from near space, I added it.

So we actually got "What can be done if you are at the right place at the right time and have have a camera than can freeze the ISS ans still get Saturn sharp with so many details". In other words this is a simulation. Only that one word was missing o give a whole new perspective and would...

Re: Submissions: 2015 July

Hi. I hope that Videos goes here as well. This is a 2700 photos time-lapse of the moon Venus and Jupiter setting. To make the video short I took an image each 2 sec (and not each 1 sec). To obtain a day-2-night effect, I changed exposure in the middle, and also I rendered the movie at 60FPS , so If ...

Chasing the ISS (APOD 04 Jun 2008)

Great Photo. I am most happy with the confirmation that it is possible to see the external fuel tank separately from the STS. I remember once seeing the STS (I think it was 120 or 121) 20 minutes after the launch and there were two white doted, which took me a while to understand but I quickly under...

Venus during day

It is quite easy to find Venus during the day if you know whwre to look. It took me 2 hours the first time I tried, but after practice it is much easier. During occulation Venus will be behind the moon for only an hour. Spot it before or after. Almost any month there is a day when the moon is close ...

Moon and Venus (APOD 23 May 2007)

Hi. I didn't expect to see this photo since the moon and venus will be much closer next month. In Fact from Israel and probably most of Europe the moon will cover Venus (occulation) completely. Indeed on the mentioned date we had an occulation of the moon and Saturn. I would rather see an APOD for t...
