Re: Antarctic Ice Shelf Vista (2009 Feb 15)

CommentAuthor BMAONE23 CommentTimeApr 6th 2007 permalink Weather or not the Steorn device can or does produce energy thru OU is still under question. But I think a better question is: If the Steorn device produces energy, does it produce useable energy? We utilize energy in two forms, either Consta...

Re: Antarctic Ice Shelf Vista (2009 Feb 15)

Global Warming has Stopped Swanson thinks the trend could continue for up to 30 years. But he warned that it's just a hiccup, and that humans' penchant for spewing greenhouse gases will certainly come back to haunt us. "When the climate kicks back out of this state, we'll have explosive warmin...

Re: Unusual Red Glow Over Minnesota (2009 February 17)

Paul, I don't think that there could be any ice crystals in the clouds over Minneapolis, at 3000', on September 23rd. It is possible but highly unlikely as the air temperature would be too high. I would also expect to see other colors besides orange associated with a Parry Arc. Just my thoughts.

Re: Antarctic Ice Shelf Vista (2009 Feb 15)

Hmm, says someone who has intonated that floating icepacks, when melted, will raise ocean levels. They do, and I explained why (as have others; it was also explained that the suggested 5m rise is not from this, however). If you don't understand this very simple idea, how can you expect your other i...

I suspect that this is something similar to the following image, only more localized and seen from 3000'.

Re: Antarctic Ice Shelf Vista (2009 Feb 15)

It has been my experience on bulletin boards of this type that a few bullying posters with lots of free time and little practical knowledge tend to dominate the conversations through shear repetitiveness, with hundreds and even thousands of posts. They reinforce each others prejudices and dilute th...

Re: Antarctic Ice Shelf Vista (2009 Feb 15)

Well, This subject certainly has increased posting to the BBS for this subject. I looked back over the thread and found that the majority of negative posts toward the APOD come from first time posters and about half of those only posted one remark. Only some, but not more than 1/4 have stayed to ar...

Re: Unusual Red Glow Over Minnesota (2009 February 17)

This is not an effect that was caused by the airplane. This can be shown by observing the reflection of the cloud like orange object on a lake in the upper right of the picture. The reflection clearly shows the orange cloud like object imbedded in normal grey-blue clouds. The question is why was thi...

Re: Antarctic Ice Shelf Vista (2009 Feb 15)

The density of freshwater is 62.4 pounds per cubic foot. The average density of seawater is 64.0 pounds per cubic foot. The difference between the two is 1.6 pounds per cubic foot. The difference between freshwater and seawater as a percentage by weight is 1.6/64 = 2.5%. Floating freshwater ice, mel...

Re: Antarctic Ice Shelf Vista

It is a spectacular failure of science that no logical debate is allowed on global warming. We might as well throw some virgins in the volcano and hope for cooler weather. Absolutely no mention of the startling lack of sunspots which actually has a scientific explanation of weather impact. Rather th...
