for such a big/wide crater, it doesn't seem very deep, ratio-wise.

Re: APOD: Lunar Craters Langrenus and Petavius (2019 Nov 11)

Why is there so little rubble around all these craters? the amount of stuff kicked up from 180km's worth of crater, i'd have thought there'd be mountains of the stuff. I guess some gets kicked into space and some is just vaporised, but still.

Re: APOD: 4000 Exoplanets (2019 Jul 10)

Any reason why there's such a dense cluster in such a "small" area in the upper left? Isn't that the area where the Kepler space telescope was busy detecting planets for a couple of years? Ann yeah, but why s many? just because they spent so much time looking? that could suggest the same ...

Re: APOD: Young Star Cluster Trumpler 14 from... (2019 May 14)

why is that cloud so black? As far as I can tell from my rubbish monitor, it has no reflection/illumination from any of the ambient light; given how bright the rest of the image is, it looks very odd. Keep in mind that in order to maximize detail, astronomical images are normally stretched so that ...

Saturn is quite known for its odd hexagonal weather formation over the pole, but it seems Earth has one of its own; i was looking at Earth today https://earth.nullschool.net/#current/wind/surface/level/overlay=temp/orthographic=26.47,-91.52,426/loc=8.436,-26.403 and the temp display showed a near pe...

What's the darker smear leading off to the North-East? Looks like something was surrounding the crater and has been blown by winds, but it seesm to cover a far greater surface area than i'd expect.
