I am going to pass on the IO image. I have no easy way to unwrap the image so i can re rap it around the sphere. If anyone wished to do that let me know.

Does anyone have Celesia on there computer? Have you loaded this image of the moon to note the difference if any? I expect a difference, I think this has a much high res than even the one in the program. Will let you know.

I really like the dynamics of the image. Look at the shooting stars. They look like they are be flung by force from the center of what ever is causing the Aurora. Very beautiful !!! I like the way the planets line up. Kind of reminds me of the movie 2000 a Space Odyssey. But as the article mentioned this lining up happens more that I realized because of the epileptic plane.

AH, That was taken on the lunar set in Hollywood were they staged all of the moon landing TV broadcasts, don't ya know.
Notice how the sand is patterned because of some large light or camera cable. I could go on and on.

Have all of you noticed that these new images from Hubble are huge. If you go back and look at the image in the 90's they are all very small (just a couple of hundred pixels on a side). This image is 3,500px × 2,715px for example. COOL!

Looks like a quilted blanket. That is what I thought when the image first came up. Then I noticed the images were repeating. Then I realized it was the annular eclipse and remember this effect from APOD's of the past (don't have any links but I know there are a few).

I would like to see what this looks like in natural light without any enhancements. It might be kind of boring but would help in understanding the phenoma better.
