Re: Shirky: The Web and How Complex Societies Collapse

What is it that exists that does not collapse? - NOTHING!!
The Universe and all that is in it and everything that is beyond it.
ALL will collapse at some point.
Each in its own way, as its day ends.

That is how what is - gives way to something better.

Re: In which nebula was our sun formed?

Well, i see my ignorance of things has shown through again. Some how it slipped my mind that thats normal to keep track of how many posts one has.

One of these days i just may get used to computers --- Not like them - just get used to them. Maybe :?:

My last three posts on this page are all #35, and if this one also comes out #35 that will make 4 # 35's on this page alone. I don't know how to tell moderators, as the PM has'nt yet worked...

Re: In which nebula was our sun formed?

Thanks Chris. Do you think i will be contacted about it to get a judgement on how far i missed the mark? I also had listed steps for energy conversion from strings to molecules, which would have seemed to be alright because it would pertain to space as well as everything else. As for drugs, i don't ...

Hi Quigley;
You must still be "down under". Its harder to see there's two from that position. You have to change your viewing angle a bit. G'Day Mate.

In which nebula was our sun formed?

Dougettinger; That was neufer's reply to a post i did right before his reply. Then, after you replied to his reply to my post, I replied to neufer's reply, right after your reply to his reply to my post. This must have upset the computer because a while later my reply (which was sitting in the spot ...

Re: APOD: M87: Elliptical Galaxy with Jet (2010 May 20)

Hey Adam
WOW! the picture you provided actually has a gas jet showing!!
On the Apod one all i could see was a little yellow straight line at 1 o'clock that barely went beyond the yellow center.
I score that ---- Apod= 1/2..................Adam=1

Adam WINS!! YEA-RAH-RAH--HOORAY!!!! :D

Re: APOD: M87: Elliptical Galaxy with Jet (2010 May 20)

neufer; your nice picture does look like it has at least 2 yellow -somethings- living in it. Talk about going Green! It took me a little while to see the gas jet from the center of M87. I had to put my monitor up to 150% and wear 2x glasses before it showed up. Its nice that there are a lot of space...

Re: APOD: Milky Way Over Ancient Ghost Panel (2010 May 19)

HEY! is'nt that last photo of neufer's showing a phone booth like Superman used to use to change in??

Also - those "peck" marks on the cave drawings - could they denote the people seen as having sparkling suits, as in space suits??
Sounds rather copacetic to me :!:

Re: CXC: X-ray Discovery Points to Location of Missing Matte

Whim contains about half the matter in the universe and its hot?? What happened to the tempreture of space being down to about absolute zero?? It looks like its a good thing there is all that cold to counteract all that hottness, or we would have been "well done" a long time ago. Also, its...

Re: APOD: Tentacles of the Tarantula Nebula (2010 May 18)

I have found that most space photos are magnificent. However, due to much better equipment that sees much more detail, i find that most of the pictures do not match the old names anymore. This picture being of no exception. To me this picture of the Tarantula Nebula looks more like something the Tar...

Re: APOD: Tentacles of the Tarantula Nebula (2010 May 18)

I'm trying to figure out how three really heavy stars managed to throw a heavy star out of the place where it was formed. It would seem to be 'normal' to assume that the gravity from the three really heavy stars would tend to pull the heavy star into their midst. Either these three really heavy star...
