Re: Recent Submissions: 2011 December 14-

I just got done with a Sh2-103 series and this is the first of three. This one is the central area and was taken with my MakNewt 8 inch F/4 and my QSI 583 CCD. The RGB was 3 hours in each color and the H-Alpha was 4 hours so the total time 13 hours. I used the H-Alpha lightly and blended into the RG...

Re: Recent Submissions

I did 2 hours in each color and 1 hour in the Clear IR (mainly to help pick up the tiny galaxies seen here) Taken with my Intes MakNewt 8 inch F/4 and the QSI 583 I capture this popular object in the sky. NGC 6207 is seen in the upper left of the image and IC 4617 is just to the upper left of the cl...

Re: Recent Submissions

NGC 3079 is a nice galaxy for any size telescope although a large one would bring out some very good structure. However, this is not the main reason I took this image, if offers a couple of unique In the very lower right corner you will come across AGC 899, a tiny galactic cluster. NGC 3073 sits to ...

Sh2-73 sits in Hercules. This is the full size view of this object but shows the many small galaxies behind This is one of the fainter objects in the catalog of this type but is strongest in green and blue. Taken with my Intes MakNewt 8 inch F/4 and the QSI 583 WSG guiding with the Lodestar autoguid...

Re: Recent Submissions: 2011 January 28-31

This is one I have had trouble with because Aldeberanis so close so I have to have someone else use his telescope to capture it. it is a cool object and I did blend the H-Alpha into it but very little of it. Used an E-210 F/3 with and ST-10 XME, Just RGB with a little HA mixed in. http://www.sharple...

Re: Recent Submissions: 2011 January 28-31

Here is another Orion Nebula (SH2-281) but I wanded to use it on my new camera with the KAF 8300 sensor. This is a a 2 hour (6x20) exposure in the H-Alpha channel blended in wit 10 minutes (1x10) to help resolve the core area. The Color was 2 hours each channed (10x12) using my MakNewt 8 inch F/4 ht...

Re: Recent Submissions: 2011 January 5-8

Sharpless 188 - This planetary did very will with the narrowband filters, SII, HA, and OIII. I used long exposures to capture the fainter area below the main nebula. I also create a map on my sharpless Catalog web site so I posted that to be different. Processed in Photoshop using Fits Liberator htt...

Re: Recent Submissions: 2010 December 25-27

Every time I start this almost nothing shows up at all. So I have by telescope out here in Benson, AZ at the observatory so it was time to put this one to bed as my Christmas gift. The HA filter came up with zip so this is an LRGB with only about 40% of the clear in the color image. This one marks t...

Re: Lunar Eclipse (2010 December) Images

http://ccdimages.com/astronomy/Eclipse2010_Stars.jpg Here is the 2nd image of the lunar eclipse I took with the Hyperstar. Ok, as you might have guessed this is an composite. I took a 0.1 second exposure of the moon. Then right after a 20 second exposure of the eclipse which massively over exposure...

Re: Lunar Eclipse (2010 December) Images

http://ccdimages.com/astronomy/Eclipse2010.jpg Well, we had quite a few clouds last night but there was a short hole in the sky. This was taken with the CPC 11 inch Hyperstar system . The exposure was 110 milliseconds. Maybe the shortest exposure I have ever taken of a lunar eclipse Starlight Xpres...

Wave of dust - Sharpless 238

Here is another sharpless you may want to add to your Christmas list. SH2-238 much like 239 is a nice object for any size telescope. This was a 12 hour RGB image (24 -10min each color) and added 2 more hours with the clear filter. In the LRGB I used a Syn Lum instead. Taken with my ST-10 and MakeNew...

Title: Sharpless 239 Copyright: Dean Salman URL: http://www.sharplesscatalog.com/sharpless/sh2-239BIG.JPG I have been imaging the entire Sharpless Catalog for a few years in both wide and narrowband filters. Every once in a while I come across one that suprises me. This one appears to be a reflectio...
