APOD Robot wrote: The close pass reduced Juno's orbital period around Jupiter from 53 days to 43 days. Really? How is that possible? Ann [/quote] Ann, The OP says Juno's orbital period was reduced, not Gany's. For some reason I had to read it twice before I understood it correctly as well. ...

Re: APOD: Capsule Returns from Asteroid Ryugu (2020 Dec 14)

What is that in the picture at the end of the video? (bottom left) Is the lights/object at the bottom left at the end of the video might be associated with the curvature of the earth in the event the video was taken from a high altitude aircraft or even the space station. Does anyone know for sure?

Is this sky circle polar centered ?
TY,

In my opinion, yes it would most likely be centered over the pole ... but I am far from qualified to say.

Why is that? Is it related somehow to possible counterclockwise rotation with the left side coming at us?
Why the left-handed polarity???? Anybody understand this?

Is it just me ... or does the feature in the photo described as "Jupiter" look more like the Andromeda galaxy? I really think it is. Can anyone confirm?

Re: APOD: The Dark River to Antares (2015 Feb 22)

With close examination of the full size image I see two other globular clusters besides M4. One just to the left of M4 (above and to the right of Antares). The other is near the top of the image directly above M4.
Can anyone else confirm that these are globulars as well?

There are several faint galaxies in the background.
Anybody know the designation of the bright galaxy below the comet in the frame?

If I was a conspiracy theorist, I'd be asking what was covered up on the lower right side of the image using the duplicate tool / copy/paste. :lol2: I noticed this obvious copy/paste also. Anyone have a link to the original Hubble archive photo so we can see what was "pasted over" by Bill...

Does the Pleiades cluster really contain over 3,000 stars???
The picture surely does not indicate this. Does someone have a citation for this?

I am wondering about that also. Sure looks like a planetary nebula. Anybody know for sure?
