Re: APOD: Two Views of Earth (2013 Jul 23)

Actually, is it just me, (or just a JPEG artifact), but I think I *can* see one brighter-gray pixel to the right and down one pixel from the Earth center. That's about the right distance and orientation for the Moon.

Re: APOD: Earth and Moon from Saturn (2013 Jul 22)

No error, this is definitely the one from near Saturn. You can see from the annotation: that it's taken from Saturn; otherwise Earth would appear in front of a different backdrop of stars.

And here's the annotated version of the Messenger shot: http://broiler.astrometry.net/~dstn/temp/ann-mess.jpg http://broiler.astrometry.net/~dstn/temp/ann-mess.jpg I was surprised this worked, since the stars are pretty faint, but bringing up the brightness/contrast helped me see them (the code had ...

Long time APOD fan, first time poster. Here is my annotated version of the wide-field image version of today's APOD: http://broiler.astrometry.net/~dstn/temp/17171-ann.jpg http://broiler.astrometry.net/~dstn/temp/17171-ann.jpg (copy of the original wide-field image is here: http://broiler.astrometry...
