composite wide field

My family enjoying the spectacle of the eclipse.
This is a composite of individual images from a small telescope ( 80mm f6 refractor) superimposed on a wide field view of the eclipse.
The timing of the partial phases is chosen to dramatize the buildup to totality.

Re: Submissions: 2017 February

This "Firefall" effect is caused by the setting sun lighting up Horsetail Falls in Yosemite Valley. It appears in early February when enough water is flowing and the sky is clear at sunset. It should also appear in the fall when the Sun's declination is similar, but seldom is there enough ...

Re: Submissions Gallery: Solar Eclipse, November 2013

Flash Spectra from 44,000 feet These spectra were captured during the eFlight from Bermuda. A 100 line/mm grating in front of a 55mm lens on a DSLR captured a moderately wide field of view making it possible to point the camera without using the viewfinder allowing me to view the eclipse directly. T...

Re: Submissions Gallery: Nova in Delphinus (2013 Aug)

The attached image shows the evolution of the spectrum of Nova Delphini over 2 1/2 weeks. Taken from my backyard in Berkeley CA., dodging clouds and fog on the first two nights, but as clear as it ever gets in Berkeley for the rest. Taken with a modified Canon T1i (filters removed) Celestron C8 with...
