C/2020 F3 (Neowise) in 24". KG Observatory, Julian, CA. Now just barely high enough to clear the edge of the dome. Shot between 9:15 PM (19° alt) and 9:30 PM (17° alt). Then it's gone. Here the L600 mount tracks the comet's exact motion for maximum resolution during the 1 minute exposures. Star...

Re: Submissions: 2020 June

The Needle Galaxy (NGC 4565). KG Observatory, Julian CA. While waiting for M16 and The Crescent Nebula to come into view during the June dark cycle, I'd aim for NGC 4565 from 9:15 PM (66°) to 11 PM (44°). My goal was to get very detailed in the center, thus only keeping the very best subs over a 10-...

Pillars of Creation - Ha-SII-OIII-LRGB Backyard Version. KG Observatory, Julian CA. Just an idea I had to do the Pillars of Creation in a more traditional way to help preserve the natural RGB with subtle Ha, SII and OIII highlights. I was hoping to get 5-minute Ha subs significantly below 2" FW...

With lots of luminance acquired during my Sombrero Galaxy (Deep) project looking for tidal streams... https://www.astrobin.com/ifvnh6/B/ ... I thought I'd spend another night acquiring RGB to produce this "Deep with color" version. With 30 minute subs, the core is saturated. Given that, HD...

M104 Tidal Streams. KG Observatory, Julian, CA

Several folks requested I update my prior FOV to possibly capture more tidal streams. 21.5+ SQM overhead skies, but closer to 21.2 SQM where I was pointing.

Great Job! I believe there is a loop at the top as well, but i have not been able to confirm, maybe you can try for that but you will have to alter the FOV. Mark Hanson Thanks Mark! Sombrero Galaxy (Deep). KG Observatory, Julian, CA. During this time of the year we see very dark skies due to a marine layer at lower altitude. That along with less lights during quarantine allows us to see 21.7+ SQM skies. (-: After seeing this deep exposure of the Sombrero Galaxy, I thought I'd t...

M82 (Pure, Deep and Final). KG Observatory, Julian, CA. My 5th attempt at M82 this year... PURE because I use a Lighten blend of Ha over RGB. Re: Submissions: 2020 April

NGC 5866 (M102 ?) Some astronomical historian argue that M102 is a duplicate observation of M101. Others say the evidence points to NGC5866. Maybe this is why NGC5866 is rarely imaged? This HST image from 2006 caught my attention... https://hubblesite.org/image/1933/gallery A FWHM of 1.86" on t...
