Re: APOD: SuitSat-1: A Spacesuit Floats Free (2021 Mar 28)

So anything just casually tossed out the space station door/airlock will burn up in a few weeks?

Re: APOD: The Hubble Ultra-Deep Field in Light... (2018 Mar 05)

So with something like the Hubble Deep Field, does someone or software go around to each little blob and let only that light through a prism to get the elemental spectrum?

If the absorption lines move so much due to redshift, doesn't that make it difficult to truly know that the composition is?

Re: APOD: NGC 1365: Majestic Island Universe (2017 Oct 12)

Is there a book or website that lists the most fascinating characteristics(such as the blackhole rotating at speed of light here) of each of most visible Messiers and NGC objects? Would love to have a recording of these facts I can play as I'm doing outreach with my telescope.

Has anyone ever caught a meteor during a total eclipse in a photo? I can't find anything on google.

Re: APOD: Two Black Holes Merge (2016 Feb 12)

So scientists expect to see 2-4 of these merger events a year?

Why wasn't LIGO done 30-40 years ago? This experiment with lasers and mirrors doesn't seem insanely complex.

If the proposed eLISA mission is much more sensitive, what other source type gravity waves could it detect?
