Many minds are boggled just now, and it's only beginning. I'm afraid I am by nature a pessimist; the successful deployment of the JWT just staggers me.

This photograph just continues to amaze a day later. It appears suspended on whichever screen I view it. What a superb effort,

Re: APOD: Interstellar Comet 2I/Borisov (2019 Dec 14)

As always, a good and spirited color discussion. The photo colors make the pictures more interesting, but it’s helpful to know what is going into the processing. Kudos to Mr Borisov... at least Crimean nights are warm in August; I am always in awe of the thousands of dedicated human eyes scanning th...

The file is worth the size. It may be the best scan you will ever see - it’s like a gift! The way he did the lighted windows is incredible. Thank you, APOD. :-)

Re: APOD: Meteor and Milky Way over the Alps (2019 Jan 14)

a new image in the series was quickly taken with one of the sky-gazers posing on the nearby peak. Later, all of the images were digitally combined. Anybody can photoshop or stitch pictures together to represent something that didn't really happen. This is one of them. I'm always disappointed when s...
