So is that little "stem" between 7:00 and 8:00 on the image a jet of some sort? That's the only explanation I can think of. Ann I'm not so sure - on the APOD full sized image, it looks to me as though that "stem" is actually a continuation of one of the limbs of glowing bubbles ...

Some globular clusters have central black holes. I think there are at least two differences. A globular cluster has a different radial density gradient than a galaxy. The typical cruising height of a jet is about 12km and the diameter of the earth is 12,000km so even if the sun is setting on the horizon a shadow would only be cast effectively horizontally (maybe upward at 1 or 2 degrees). But great picture!

I wonder why the tail of the comet is streaming away from the sun, "buffeted by the solar wind" as in the description, but there seems to be a separate halo around the head of the comet which is more or less smoothly distributed and unaffected by the solar wind?

By the way can anyone spot tiny background galaxies in the APOD? I’m curious to see how those would compare between Hubble and Webb. Looks like there may be one here, right on the left edge of the Webb image APOD1.jpg It's quite visible and blue-ish in the Webb view, but disappears in Hubble.

Good angle, good view, good perspective. Not so usual. I also like that we are able to see some portion of moon that we never get to see from earth but I wish we could see it better (I'm thinking the cameras on Artemis I don't have good resolution), i've never seen so much large portion of the moon...

I'm saying that every (extended) object that is bright enough to see visually through a telescope eyepiece is bright enough to see with the naked eye. All a telescope can do is make it bigger, not brighter. Bigger can make it more visible because more of the retina is involved... but that is exactl...
