Really great image. Not the first time on APOD...

The left side looks like a person riding the top of a giant space dog's head...to me anyway... what an interesting place.

Re: APOD: Andromeda before Photoshop (2019 Oct 14)

It usually takes SOME processing to get a good, or better image... My M27. The dingy one is the original...the other was photoshop with auto contrast, auto color, auto level...taken with my 10" Meade LX 200 in 2012... 40 frames or so...maybe around 30 seconds each. Even Astrophotoger, Tony Hall...

Re: APOD: Io Eclipse Shadow on Jupiter from Juno (2019 Oct 07)

:?: Jupiter's radius is 38.4 times that of Io, so this shadow seems far too large to me, which would mean this image cannot be correct. We are not seeing the whole of the face of Jupiter...but only a small fraction of it... we see it from a very close range. So we see a smaller horizon... as this i...

I think a better term is "Dispersed" rather than evaporating...I don't thing dust becomes a vapor, doesn't it just "move off"?

Awesome... from IC1284 to M21 is a WRIST... up to M23 is the clinched thumb, and at M23 is a "pointing finger"...in the center, between the two sides is a central area in which I see faces, and bodies...and a guy leaning over playing POOL!!!

What can you "See"?

Re: APOD: Sand Dunes Thawing on Mars (2019 Sep 24)

If the water ice sublimes into the atmosphere as a gas, without turning liquid first...then the dark areas are dark, DRY, sand... and not wet at all...and may not be indicative of the thawing process. We would then not SEE any water vapor, steam, or standing water, or damp sand at all in that case.....

Nice image! I'm always happy to see a beautiful RGB image of a nebula. :D Where is Cygnus X-1 , though? Cygnus X-1 was the first source in the Milky Way to be widely accepted as a stellar mass black hole. I think Cygnus X-1 is located close to the Tulip Nebula, at least as seen from our point of vi...
