Re: APOD: The Local Fluff (2010 Aug 29)
I do not understand something. In the picture, the sun is moving relatively down, away from the the galactic center. On Dec,21, 2012 the sun is supposed to cross the galactic equator. And thus, Doomsday! But, by the motion of the sun in this picture, it is down and away from that! I just realized th...

Re: APOD: Hoags Object: A Strange Ring Galaxy (2010 Aug 22)
What causes the ring? I have a theory.... When the Central Massive Black Hole is "feeding", it sends out a large amount of radiation and gases jet away from the center. This "solar wind" or in this case, "Galactic Wind" destroys the central spiral bar when those stars d...

Re: APOD: Shaping NGC 6188 (2010 Jul 16)
Maybe we should rename it....."The Sistine Nebula" after Micheal Angelo's work on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. You know the one where Adam and God are reaching towards each other....this reminds me of that....

Re: 2009 Jan 07(The Galactic Core in Infrared) Saturn look-a
Following the arch of bright clouds containing the mentioned pillars in the lower left corner from left to right you find a bright object which looks like beeing sourrounded by a sphere of gas.Panning right (2050px form left, 2180px from top) you find a saturn look-alike object. What is it? I think...

Jan 07, The Galactic Core in Infrared - Mr. Potato HEAD???
About 2 1/2 inches in at the bottom left, and about an inch up, is a yellowish object.
Is it me, or does the object look like Mr. Potato Head???
It has goofy eyes, a small nose and a frowning mouth, and small ears!!!
Odd little thing!

Massive Stars in NGC 6357 (APOD 09 Oct 2008)
Stating that PISMIS 24 has stars with over 100 times the mass of the Sun. And knowing what generally happens to stars that massive, (i.e. Supernova, collapse to black hole etc...) is it just that the stars are so young and still has enough heat so as not to collapse yet? Why doesn't that hugh of a m...

Thanks people!!!
I want to thank you all for your input. I can see why the "Skull" was not scrutinized like the "FACE" as there are other shots that do not look like a skull. I wonder why there are still people who insist the "FACE" is made by beings, when obviously since the skull is a...

Face On MARS ---- SKULL ON MARS!!!
Hi, I was looking at the 3d glasses version of the "face on mars". Then I clicked on the Cydonia Region link. The address below. The "FACE" is in the lower right corner. Look to your left one feature, and you will see another feature that amazingly looks like a 3d shape of a HUMA...
