What an awesome image... I was looking at Orion when i went out this evening as it passes by to the south...just over the trees... it is awesome on a clear, moonless, February night.

Awesome and Mysterious looking... My M20 close up...I have been trying to match them up...OK...I have adjusted my image to match the APOD...On the left...you see that "hump" pointing inward??? In the APOD that is that little "nib" pointing into the center...it looks kind of like ...

"Up, Up.... and a way!!!!"
Or....my other one.... "...and it's a grand slam home run...out of the PARK!!!"

And it is a great image, and looks cool going up over the clouds.

Perhaps a naive question but how did the centers of the oldest craters become flat? Tycho seems bowl shaped with a central peak but most of the larger ones don't appear to be like that. I think, number one, size... they are larger, so bigger impact and so, are more like a caldera...the flatness, co...

Nice and crisp...I was amazed. When you zoom in on a photo on his site, like Plato Crater, you can panscan around, and it it amazing detail.
