Roughly around that, yes. We get a few hours warning though. Neutrinos will escape the star in peak numbers before any light or shockwave can.Pannick wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2020 8:41 am But if it happened 699 years and 6 months ago we would only know about this year - wouldn't we? Help!

Damn, and I was thinking Orion looked odd this year... or the last. Something felt "wrong" in the constellation. As there've only at most been less than 2 full days this year I'll assume it was late last year. About 10 days or so ago I had read a news article about the fading of Betelgeus...

During the last full harvest moon I took some photos with my new Canon SX70 HS. On one photo I noticed a little black dot. First I thought it might be an insect, like a moth. But when I enhanced the details the "wings" look quite narrow. Could it be a satellite? :?: IMG_1729_ufo.jpg cut-ou...

It will be difficult to operate in that environment (understatement) For instance, landing to recharge, I hope it won't melt through the methane (or whatever) ice on the surface and then get frozen into place. Maybe a Zeppelin type robot could be used, a gas bag to keep it aloft while the RTG recha...

I can imagine it to be a normal process that an object of that size forming in a proto-planetary disc gathers more material along its plane of orbit or equator. Rotating and gathering layer after layer on the same area. Once the mass is too great the structure collabses under its own gravitation and...
