Some people have nothing better to do!!
How about composing music from flowers growing in a garden? or fish swimming in the sea?
Sorry, but this didn't get me excited like some (most!) APOD's!

Re: APOD: Wonder and Mystery above the VLT (2011 May 09)
Amazing, astounding... lost for words... Many thanks APOD for brightening up my day once again... And for making me hope that one day I'll be in a place dark enough to see that many stars... Can anyone tell me what the tracks on the ground are for? Just a guess but the AT (auxiliary telescope) seems...

Re: APOD: Celestial Trails over Greece (2011 May 04)
Almost perfect ... but the second sentence of the description says "star trials" instead of "star trails" ... ahh those typos! They were testing the stars, auditioning them before they take part in another blockbuster to be released soon! I couldn't watch it to the end, I think ...

Re: APOD: Rio Morning Moonset (2011 Apr 20)
"Moonset?" my first words on seeing today's APOD: "There's something wrong with that..." of course we're used to seeing it set in the northern hemisphere, never seen it set anywhere else before! How narrow-minded people can be! :-) Many thanks to Babek for sharing this wonderful ...

Re: APOD: Phobos South Pole from Mars Express (2011 Jan 24)
When I see such photographs (thanks APOD team!), I two things come to mind: 1) How amazing it is that we have managed to send a craft such a distance and can receive photos from it... How ignorant we would be about the solar system if such things were not developed. A poke in the eye for those who s...

Re: APOD: Analemma 2010 (2010 Dec 31)
One of the best APODs this year from my point of view. In a way it encourages us to try to capture astronomic events on film (sorry, pixels!), encourages us to realise that every day is different to the last ones (even if only the position of the sun!) and also reminds us that things are not just tu...

Looks like Horse Chestnut to me, but maybe I'm biased having grown them as a lad! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aesculus_hippocastanum One point that is missing from the explanation is how the photographer managed to prevent the stars from being smudged; I've tried many long exposures but never been ...

Despite the fact that its a beautiful photo, methinks that this photo should be in the Earth Observatory Image of the Day rather than APOD... http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/IOTD/ Any comments folks? Should APOD only show photos looking away from our planet, or can we accept the ocassional downward...

"Happy Birthday" from Turkey!
Can we have a version with a link to the relevant APOD on each mini-image please? (A job which would keep someone in work for the next 15 years!)

Can't get Saturn on my Tomtom. Maybe I need a map update! While cruising around Saturn, be on the lookout for picturesque juxtapositions of moons and rings.
Joking aside, an amazing photo and nice to hear that the mission has been extended...

Interesting photo of a more interesting phenomenon, whatever it is called. One thing I wondered is why the rings all have the same sequence of light colours? In a "normal" rainbow the secondary bow's colours are reversed relative to the primary. In this photo, they all seem to be in the sa...

This must be the best star-trail photo I've ever seen - congratulations to Chris for taking it and the APOD team for letting us see it.
As an "amateur" astronomer and photographer I can only dream of taking such a photo...
Thanks!
