It looks to me like it could also be rocks crumbling and rolling down the side disturbing lighter colored dust on the surface. Since it is seasonal, perhaps the temperature change causes the rock to expand and contract which makes them crumble. Just a thought. I thought of crumbling darker sediment...

And if there's not enough fuel to crash, how about a highly elliptical one for some dramatic close-ups? Would also be wonderful to produce some 3-d stereo images. Interesting pit to the left. Is it possible to see those sapphire jewels in 3-d by imaging in opposite seasons? That would be amazing. Sometimes when I'm looking through an eyepiece it almost seems to have depth, so even he slightest hint of it would be something.

Leading or trailing arms? That seems so counterintuitive... But what does a brain know. Beautiful image, but I find the upper left corner really interesting, with a feeling of depth given the layers of clouds almost appearing like mountainscapes.
