Way cool, looking forward to discoveries.
My only gripe about the photo is it showed too much foreground and not enough sky, I hope newer ones take and stitch in sky shots, the rule of 1/3's applies for these as well.

I'd really like more details on this shot.
Camera, lens, settings, and if cropped or not.
Almost exactly same shot as 4 years ago........................

Congratulations Larry Van Vleet on your image "NGC 7635: The Bubble Nebula", simply stunning. This was one of the 3 images I picked. The best of the years best are here, and congratulations to "A Tale of Two Hemispheres" and "Mangaia's Milky Way", both visually stunning...

Is there a guide that says "no comments on APOY 2011 till poll closed?"
I see lots of votes but zero comments, so curious, and don't want to rankle anyone if I post comments/thoughts.
thx,

Of all the Aurora images I've seen, this is in the top 3, if not the single best, so it won my vote.
A Horseshoe Einstein Ring from Hubble won my 2nd vote, simply this is science verification shown for everyone to grasp, how cool!

I was an active member of AnnArbor MacTechnics from 1986 - 1995, did anyone here ever join those mtgs? For a few years I ran the SIG's, Basics and Beginners. Also I was a semi-active member of MacGroup Detroit (Terry White). Ha, I spent $6k on the MacPortable when it came out in 1989 because I hated...

My homage to Steve Jobs. I took this self-portrait in Fall 1984 with my 1st computer, Apple Mac 128k, the original!

So; I saw this QR code, took my iPhone4 out, and scanned it hoping to see some Easter Egg, another great/educational NASA APOD, then I came to the APOD page with explain of QE, felt confused. Read the comments posted here, I’d like to offer my take on this. Can we take QR’s to the next level? In ot...

This is beautiful, stunning. Are there video clips of Aurora that show in real time how the eye would see the colors in a dark location? I realize long camera exposure pick the colors up much more. For people like me who live in Michigan, I'd love to see Aurora, I've viewed then just twice in my lif...
