I thought since it was the Canada Day weekend, that my internet was too busy, and that the site couldn't come up? I was scared that APOD had quit! I am glad you are back, since I love astronomy, and you have the best pics on the net!!!

I just truthfully felt lost out here alone on a planet, that does not ascribe to the belief that there is the possibility of life out there in our vast universe. Your site is amazing and it feeds my thirst for space exploration, astronomy and science knowledge & gives me hope and a bit of an education too...Glad that they wrassled those aliens to the ground and rounded them all up and got the site back, up & running again. ---in gratitude & peace, ginger

.....that APOD had been switched over to the ******** at Akamai (like a lot of USA government sites) which I have blocked. When that wasn't true I just didn't know. Figured it out later when I heard about the storms.

Best wishes to everyone throughout the east who have been affected.

I thought that budgetary constraints had brought about the end of the APOD program.

OMG... Did NASA just pull the plug without warning? (I looked for APOD links on NASA's home site, but COULDN'T FIND ANY!) Previously, some of my favorite sites have vanished just like that. Nope... APOD is just too popular world-wide. NASA wouldn't do that. Gotta be a server failure of some sort. Glad it was that sort of thing and that you're back!

I thought it was my privacy settings and started letting in cookies. I guess I should pay more attention to US news as it may have mentioned storms taking out power supplies. I guess I get spoiled living off grid and dot relying on anyone else for energy as I get it all myself from around my house.

...it was really professional the way the mirror sites appeared to be all working fine with the currently dated page! I don't how you did it but well done folks!

It is not unusual to have temporary difficulties accessing websites.
So it didn't seem anything odd. Glad you've not been abducted as
I'm looking forward to tomorrow's APOD picture.

APOD has been so reliable, day after day for years, it didn't occur to me that there was a problem at GSFC. After all these years, it actually became unthinkable that APOD was down. :ssmile:
Living in Australia, I'd heard about the storms and power outages in the US, but didn't make the connection. Actually I was really disappointed with MY network for 'stuffing up'.
Not too worried because I can see previous APOD images and my DEV system is down, which gives me extra time today. :ssmile:

I thought it must be so busy there just wasn't space for me to get on; I came back about ten minutes later and figured there must have been a major hacker attack on the site -- denial of service.

Thank goodness you're back! I thought my body was going into DT's from the lack of my APOD daily fix, and that congressional budget cuts had finally did you in. Your pictures are one of the very few sources of natural beauty that I have come to rely on over the last few years. I really do appreciate your daily efforts. Thank you.
