Mount Cleveland in Alaska is an active volcano with multiple recent eruptions. The eruption pictured on 2006 June 07 APOD was captured from the ISS on 2006 May 23.

It's amazing to see how the earth has changed even in the short period since this series was recorded. I appreciate how RN described common objects that we still have many things to explain and discover. It invokes a sense of awe and wonder! I just bought my first telescope. Can't wait to see the moon! :D
