Re: Bugs? Problems? Report them here!

Postby DavidLeodis » Sun Feb 19, 2012 6:25 pm

For some days now when I receive an email informing me that there is a new post in a thread that I am interested in when I use the link to that post and log in I then get a message "You are not authorised to read this forum, possibly because a post or topic was moved out of the public section of the forum". I wonder if anybody else is regularly getting that? If not then it would seem there is some problem at my end. My antivirus and firewall is up to date.

Probably spam that has been removed. Sorry for the inconvenience.

You're probably getting those messages as a result of spam posts that have been removed by the time you arrive here to read them.

Thanks bystander and owlice. :) I wondered if that may have been the case.

Apologies if I had somehow given the impression that the Starship Asterisk* system had caused me "inconvenience". I do appreciate that there are things out of its immediate control.

David, it's very likely the case, as we delete spam every waking hour.

Geckzilla, what an inspirational smilie. You guys are so good at 'popping' spam, you should have tee-shirts made up that say-->Starship Asterisk*, Special Ops spam popping team. And when you've had a rough day at spam popping, you could sing this cheerful little ditty to help you along-->Merrily we pop the spam, pop the spam, pop the spam; Merrily we pop the spam, all the da-ay long.

I actually like canned spam, just don't care for the internet kind.

Spamzactly! You can't put a real can of Spam in cyberspace, and you can't put internet spam on a grocery shelf. So you can have your spam and pop it too :!:

Spam was probably invented on the grocery shelf or some similar capitalistic venture. We're just fine with seeing it in public places where we expect to see it. BUY 1 GET 1 FREE!!!

Just think... if Hormel had been aggressive about protecting their trademark, our references to unwanted Internet advertising would be so much more cumbersome...

How come we have so much fun with something that's so irritating :?: :?: It's almost like the satisfaction that comes from swatting a pesky fly :spam:

Posting not possible

Postby Dieter Willasch » Sun Mar 18, 2012 7:37 am

I am a registered user ( username Dwill), but I am unable to post under my username after I have logged on and my name appears in the online user list.
When I go to Postreply I am asked again for my username and the scramble input. When I then put in my username and the correct scramble the system tells me that this name is already in use as it should for a new user, who uses my name. That is why I have to write this post under my real name.
So I think the system forgets my username, when I change pages. I have tried to post via different computers and browsers but the fault appears with all.

Who can help?

Dieter

@Dieter

If, when you post, it is asking for a username and scramble, you are almost certainly not logged in.

If you are logged in, you should see something like this at the top right of every page:

Logged-In.png

Otherwise, you aren't logged in and you will see:

Thanks bystander!
Yes, but this is exactly the problem!
After I log in and this is confirmed and I change pages, e.g. to go to this postreply, the system logs me out again!

What can I do?

But I tried this with several browsers and computers: always the same behavior!
Even with my iPad, where I do not even know how to disable cookies.

Its quite mysterious!
Thanks for trying to help me.

Read your PMs (personal messages). I answered your question on April 7th.
