First day of my mission at Project PoSSUM in High Level Alberta: I haven't been disappointed! We drove 8 hours to the remote town of High Level in the northern part of Alberta, Canada. We barely settled down, as we had our first mission briefing prior to the flight mission. As the weather was quiet alright, we confirmed the flight and headed to the airport to get the plane, crew and equipment ready. The team took off at around 11:45pm and flew for under 3 hours. It was a huge success and we saw noctilucent clouds, as well as a beautiful display of aurora borealis! And I thought it would be too bright to see them, and now we got both shows!

What an incredible start to an adventure.

An exceptionally bright Iridium flare flanks the summer Milky Way over the shores of Lake Huron. The flare is a composite of 6 frames (to capture the full length) and the background is a single 12 second exposure.

These are two of the brightest DSOs in Cygnus. A great constellation to find interesting objects. It is up most of the summer for those of us in the Northern hemisphere.

Shot through a Canon 200mm L Lens with my ZWO ASI1600MM-Cool. Astrodon Filters: HA, OIII, and SII.

All Processing in PixInsight.

Color combination:
Red: 50% Ha 50% SII
Green: 50% Ha 50% OIII
Blue: 100% Oiii

Shot from Elkton, Maryland and Trap Pond State Park in Delaware.

Average SQM reading: 20.5
