It was hard to pick a favorite, but in the end I chose NGC 1275. The clincher for me was that I suddenly realized that one of the blue tidal tail of clusters thrown out from NGC 1275 is actually interacting with a small yellow galaxy to the upper right of it. Suddenly it became dramatically obvious that this small galaxy is one of NGC 1275's satellite galaxies, while the larger and brighter yellow galaxy on the left does not seem to take part of the interaction and is therefore probably sufficiently far away from NGC 1275 not to interact with its tidal tails directly, at least not here and now. Fascinating, if you ask me!

Number two on my list of favorite images is the beautifully detailed and colorful picture of Thor's Helmet. I also think that the infrared image of the Heart and Soul nebulae is interesting and satisfying as infrared images go. The Saturn picture was good too, but I can't love pictures that are in black and white.

It was a tough choice this week with so many beautiful images.

3rd choice was Thor's Helmet. Just a great image. Wonderful colors.

2nd was the Hubble Remix. I can peer into the background of the this picture and just be baffled at the expanse of the universe. Mind numbing.

My vote: Moons and Rings - I love the contrast of the image. It's almost like Ansel Adams was floating through space...I find it all terribly fascinating.

Saturn & the Moons & Rings is an awe-inspiring shot! I would have to say it clearly illustrates the idea that "Life Imitates Art". It is more dramatic a picture than any Sci-Fi Artist I know of has ever portrayed of the ringed planet.
