Welcome to Starship Asterisk!

You may have received a link to this thread in response to a recent submission to APOD. Posting your image to Starship Asterisk is encouraged but not required and guarantees that the image is seen by people whether it appears as an APOD or not and makes it eligible for inclusion in polls. Posting/not posting an image to Asterisk has no impact on its consideration as an APOD; Drs. Nemiroff and Bonnell select images independently for APOD.

Please note that by submitting your image to APOD, you are consenting for your image to be used on APOD in all of its forms unless you explicitly note otherwise. These include mirror sites, foreign language mirror sites as listed above, new media mirror sites as listed above, and direct APOD derivative products on the following social fan pages:
Facebook: Sky, Horizon, Universo (in Spanish);
Google Plus: APOD River.
We do recommend that you include a small copyright notice in a corner of your submitted images.

The APOD pages are collected annually on a CD-ROM, which is distributed free of charge to educators and the general public. If you would like your image to be considered for an APOD but do not want your image included in this CD-ROM collection, please state that in your post when you post your image.

You must be the image owner or have the copyright holder's explicit permission to post images.

To post an image that is already online:

• Please click the "Post Reply" button that appears at the top or bottom of the thread. (The "Quick Reply" screen is not as friendly for posting images.)
• Use the img, img2, or img3 tag. (I usually use the img2 tag.)
  
  • Click the image tag you want; that will make the tags appear in the reply window.
  • Put your cursor between the tags, and insert the URL of your image -- this should be the URL of just the image itself. Please test the link you want to use by putting it in the address bar of your browser. If you get MORE THAN the image in the browser window -- if you get an entire web page -- you don't have the URL to the image file and putting the URL you have between the img tags will NOT work.
• Click "Submit." Woo-hoo! You're done!
  
  
• Please keep linked images to ~400k or less!
  Posts which link to images that take too long to load will be edited, the images reduced in size and attached, and a link provided to the original image. I love big images, but I love being able to see an image of any size even more, and I can't see it if my thin pipe to the Internet can't load it. Thanks for your cooperation!

Here is the code I use to post an online image on Asterisk; you do not need to use this! I post it just as an example. If you use this, please replace text as appropriate with your own information.

If you are a member of Asterisk and have posted at least 10 posts , you can post an image that is not online by doing the following:

• Please click the "Post Reply" button that appears at the top or bottom of the thread. (The "Quick Reply" screen is not as friendly for posting images.)
• Click the "Upload attachment" tab that appears at the bottom of the "Post a Reply" screen (below the reply window) to upload your image.
  
  • Click "Browse" to find the image on your computer; click the file name when you find it.
  • Click "Add the file." This takes a few seconds, depending on how large your file is; the reply window will reload once it is uploaded.
  • Position your cursor in the reply window; click "Place inline," which appears below the file name of your uploaded image.
• Click "Submit." Woo-hoo! You're done!

Hints which may be helpful

Images must be under 250K if uploading them as attachments.
Please be mindful of those without fat pipes to the internet when posting images, whether linking to or attaching. If an image is over 400K or so, please consider reducing the image. Ways to reduce the size of the image file:

• Reduce the resolution to 72ppi
  
• Reduce the size to under 900 px in each direction (horizontally and vertically) or even less if necessary

Poster votre image sur Starship Asterisk est souhaitable mais pas obligatoire; Poster votre image est une garantie que les internautes la voient, qu’elle apparaisse ou non comme APOD et la rend éligible à l'inscription dans les sondages. La publication / non publication d'une image sur Asterisk n'a aucune incidence sur sa considération comme étant une APOD. Drs. Nemiroff et Bonnell sélectionnent les images de manière indépendante pour l’APOD.

  Les envois en lien vers des images qui prennent trop de temps à charger seront édités ; elles apparaîtront en taille réduite avec un lien vers l'image originale. J'aime les grandes images, mais j'aime encore plus être en mesure de voir une image de n'importe quelle taille, mais je ne peux pas les voir si mon débit Internet ne me permet pas de les charger. Voici le code que j'utilise pour afficher une image en ligne sur Asterisk ; vous n'avez pas besoin de l’utiliser! Je le poste juste à titre d'exemple. Si vous l'utilisez, s'il vous plaît remplacez le texte, le cas échéant, avec vos propres informations.

Si vous êtes membre d'Asterisk et avez envoyé au moins 10 posts, vous pouvez poster une image qui n'est pas en ligne en procédant comme suit:

Aides qui peuvent être utiles

Les images doivent peser moins de 250K si vous les téléchargez en pièce jointe.
S'il vous plaît prenez en considération ceux qui ne possèdent pas un gros débit Internet lorsque vous postez une image. Si une image fait plus 400K, s'il vous plaît envisagez de la réduire.
Les moyens de réduire la taille du fichier image:

• Réduisez la résolution de 72 ppi
  
• Réduire la taille à moins de 900 px dans les deux sens (horizontalement et verticalement), voire moins si nécessaire

Aby zamiescic zdjecie musisz byc pelnoprawnym wlascicielem zdjecia lub miec zgode na jego zamieszczenie.

Jak zamiescic zdjecie online:

• Kliknij na przycisk "Post Reply" ktory pojawia sie na gorze lub dole watku. ("Quick Reply" nie pomoze Ci w zamieszczeniu zdjecia:)
• Uzyj img, img2, lub img3 tag (Ja zwykle uzywam img2 tag.)
  
  • Skopiuj link do zdjecia
  • Umiesc kursor pomiedzy tagami i wklej jego URL
  • Zamiesc opis do zdjecia jego parametry, miejsce wykonania i co jeszcze chcesz:)
• Kliknij "Submit". Juhu! Zrobione!.

• Link powinien zajmowac maksimum 400 kb lub mniej.
  Linki do zdjec, ktorych ladowanie trwa zbyt dlugo beda edytowane i redukowane w rozmiarze. Link bedzie pozwalal na powrot do oryginalnego rozmiaru zdjecia.

Jesli jestes czlonkiem Asteriska i masz co najmniej 10 postow na forum mozesz zamieszczac zdjecia nie online wykonujac podane czynnosci:

• Postepuj tak jak w pierwszym przypadku.
• Nacisnij "Upload attachment" ktory pojawi sie na dole "Post Reply", aby zaladowac swoje zdjecie.
  
  • Nacisnij "browse" aby znalezc zdjecie na komputerze, kliknij nazwe pliku gdy go znajdziesz.
  • Nacisnij "add the file". Zamieszczanie zdjecia potrwa kilka sekund w zalezosci od rozmiaru danego pliku.
  • Kliknij "place online".
• Kliknij "Submit". Juhu! Zrobione.

Ön valószínűleg már beküldte a képét az APOD-ra és válaszul egy erre az oldalra mutató linket kapott. Az Asterisk egy csillagászati fórum, ahová az APOD-ra szánt képeket beküldeni ugyan nem szükséges, de javasolt, hiszen így az Ön képét mások is láthatják, akkor is, ha az nem jelenik meg az APOD-on, sőt, szavazásokon is részt vesz. Az Asteriskre való feltöltés/beküldés nem befolyásolja az APOD-on való megjelenést, hiszen Dr. Bonnell és Dr. Nemiroff ettől függetlenül válogatja a képeket.

Kérjük vegye figyelembe, hogy ha az Asterisk-re tölt fel képet, az együtt jár azzal, hogy esetleg a kép megjelenhet az APOD-on, annak az összes partner oldalán és a közvetlen APOD termékekben is.

Ha a belinkelt kép túl nagy méretű, annak méretét csökkentse le és azt a kisebb változatát töltse fel. Emellé pedig tegyen egy linket, amely az eredeti, nagyobb felbontású változatra mutat, így aki szeretné, meg tudja nézni. Én nagyon szeretem a nagy képeket, de legyünk tekintettel azokra is, akiknek lassú internet elérésük van, ne lassítsuk a fórum betöltődését nagyméretű képekkel. Köszönjük az együttműködést!

Itt egy formula, amit a már interneten lévő képek Asterisk-re való belinkeléséhez használok, de Önnek nem feltétlenül szükséges ezt használnia, ez csak egy példa. Ha ezt szeretné használni, helyettesítse be a szövegben a megfelelő részt a saját információival.

Néhány hasznos dolog:

A képek maximum 250 Kb méretűek lehetnek, ha csatolmányként küldi.
A képek feltöltésekor (akár csatolja, akár elérési utat ad meg) kérjük legyen tekintettel azokra, akiknek nincs szélessávú internet kapcsolatuk. Ha a kép 400Kb-nál nagyobb, csökkentse a méretet. Ezt a következő módon teheti meg:

• Csökkentse a kép felbontását 72 Dpi-re.
  
• Csökkentse a kép felbontását 900 pixel alá mindkét oldalon (vízszintesen is és függőlegesen is), vagy még ennél is jobban, ha szükséges.
• További segítséget a „Help on using BBCode” -ban talál.

Mielőtt képet küld be, menjen vissza a „Recent Submissions” (jelenlegi beküldések) témára és onnét indítsa a feltöltést.

Si usted ya es miembro de Asterisk y ha realizado un mínimo de 10 envíos, ya puede colgar una imagen que no esté en línea haciendo lo siguiente:

Odkaz na toto vlákno jste mohli obdržet jako reakci na vaše nedávné podání do APODu. Zveřejnění vašeho snímku na Hvězdné lodi Asterisk se sice doporučuje, ale není vyžadováno. Zato garantuje, že snímek lidé uvidí, ať už se objeví na APODu nebo ne a učiní ho způsobilým pro zahrnutí do hlasování o něm. • Klikněte prosím na tlačítko "Post Reply", které je nahoře nebo na spodku vlákna. (Stránka "Quick Reply" není pro zveřejňování snímků tak uživatelsky přátelská.)
• Použijte tag img, img2 nebo img3. (Já obvykle používám tag img2.)
  
  • Klikněte na tag, který si vyberete, tím se tag objeví v reply window.
    
  • Umístěte kurzor mezi tagy a vložte URL vašeho snímku, ovšem pouze URL samotného snímku. Zkontrolujte prosím odkaz na snímek, který hodláte použít na adresovám řádku prohlížeče (zpravidla končí příponou .jpg). Pokud v okně prohlížeče uvidíte VÍCE NEŽ jeden snímek, například celou webovou stránku, tak nemáte URL snímku a umístění URL mezi tagy NEBUDE fungovat.
• Kliknětě na "Submit." Skvělé! Hotovo!

• Odkazujte prosím pouze snímky kolem 400kB nebo menší!
  Příspěvky, které budou odkazovat na snímky, které se příliš dlouho stahují budou upraveny, velikost snímků bude zmenšena a snímky budou začleněny do stránky s odkazem na původní snímek. Mám rád velké snímky, ale ještě raději se podívám na jakkoliv velké snímky, což ale nejde, pokud je moje slabé připojení nedokáže stáhnout. Děkuji za spolupráci!

Zde je kód, který používám pro příspěvky na Asterisku se snímky online, ovšem vy ho nemusíte používat! Uvádím ho pouze pro příklad. Pokud ho budete používat, tak prosím text nahraďte podle vašich informací.

Pokud jste členem Asterisku a publikovali jste více než 10 příspěvků, tak můžete přidat příspěvek se snímkem, který není online následujícím způsobem:

• Klikněte prosím na tlačítko "Post Reply", které je u vlákna nahoře nebo dole. ("Quick Reply" není pro vkládání příspěvků se snímky uživatelsky přátelské.)
• Pro upload snímku klikněte na záložku "Upload attachment", která je u obrazovky "Post a Reply" dole (pod reply window).
  
  • Klikněte na "Browse" a najděte snímek na vašem počítači; až ho najdete, klikněte na příslušné jméno souboru.
  • Klikněte na "Add the file." To zabere několik sekund, podle velikosti souboru; po uploadu se reply window obnoví.
  • Umístěte svůj kurzor do reply window; klikněte na "Place inline," což bude vidět pod jménem souboru uploadovaného snímku
• Klikněte na "Submit." Skvělé! Hotovo!

Možná užitečné rady

Snímky musí být pod 250K, pokud je uploadujete jako přílohy.
U příspěvků s obrázky mějte prosím na mysli uživatele bez širokopásmového připojení k internetu, ať už na snímky odkazujete, nebo je přikládáte. Pokud má snímek zhruba 400K, zvažte prosím zmenšení velikosti snímku. Ke zmenšení velikosti souboru se snímkem můžete:

• Zmenšit rozlišení na 72 dpi
  
• Zmenšit velikost pod 900 px v obou směrech (horizontálně a vertikálně) či méně, pokud je to nutné
  
• Dále vám může pomoci přečtění běžných chyb a užití kódu BBCode.

Před přidáním příspěvku s vašimi snímky se prosím vraťte na stránku Recent Submissions.

Oh, I don't know how to fix the instructions so they are clearer; I've just added something else to try to help, and those of you having difficulty posting, please let me know what else is needed!

The most common error in trying to post an image, aside from an image being too big (images must be under 400K), is trying to use the URL to a web page rather than the URL to the image between the img tags. That doesn't work. You must use the URL for the image itself, not the web page. If you put the URL you want to use into the address bar of your browser and get an entire web page, you don't have the right URL. Right-click on the image and examine its properties to see what the URL for the image is.

The second most common error is trying to link to an image that is private, cannot be downloaded, or has some other restriction on it that prevents the image from displaying via a hotlink. If an image is private, it's not going to display here. If hotlinking to the image is not allowed by the serving site (Smugmug, for example), either because the photographer has disabled hotlinking or the serving site prohibits all hotlinking, the image is not going to appear here via hotlinking.

Please let me know what other information is needed, what makes it clearer how to post images. I'm sorry I don't have time to fix everything -- that day job thing, you know! -- and clearly the instructions need to be improved, so please let me know how I can improve them! Thank you!!

You could give an example of what's right and wrong for this common problem. Example:

Incorrect - This is a link to a website and it won't work with the [img] tag: http://www.geckzilla.com/art/v/200
Correct - This is a direct link to an image and it will work: http://www.geckzilla.com/img/art/pics/NGC2023.jpg

Also, I suggest using a browser you almost never use in order to check that your link functions for other people and not just yourself. It's better than clearing your cache, cookies, sessions, etc.
