Nice to see that The Olive Tree at Sounion is growing, while I am Watching The Sky... :)

canopia, :D

I hope people click on each image to see them in a larger size; it makes a HUGE difference! And I'm glad I have three votes; even with three, though, it's hard to narrow it down!

My votes this time went first,

- to the polar ring galaxies, because I see in APOD a description of these intriguing objects in 1999--there may be newer ones I am unaware of.... The Cornell U. link explaining PRGs says, there is a new catalog, and APOD astronomers can give us a learned explanation of the new findings;

- second, to the artistic representation of fire in space; I do not know anything about this, and would like to find out more about this phenomenon;

- and third, to the first observation of a comet crossing paths with the Sun. Did it crash into the Sun, or did it come between the viewer and the Sun? I cannot tell, and would like to hear an astronomer discuss this event.

All pictures here are interesting and appealing in their own right.
