I don't know if is the correct way to show you this image, this night i make this photo with my nikon compact camera.
I'm very surprised to see Aldebaran in this way so I hope you too.

Venus was so lighting that i cannot make a better photo.

Many times, in the The Odyssey by Homer, "the child of morning, rosy-fingered Dawn" is mentioned. What is it ?
It is the personification of dawn, a goddess, but also a phenomenon that can be seen twice many days, one just before dawn and the other just after sunset, even from urban areas.

So many directions

Trails of stars from 49°N (Czech republic) from dusk to moonlight. During the dusk came across the sky coloured cirrus clouds, after that the sky cought dark blue color of non-astronomical July night. During the time flew a few planes, one Iridium satellite and two meteors. The shine left up is moonlight. The direction of trails of stars is defined by their declinaction. Trails below the sky equator have shape of upper part of circles (the radius is bigger how closer to equator trails are) and conversely - trails above the equator are shaped like bottom parts of circles. So you can easily determine the south and west horizon. It's compound of 390x30s expositions to wideangle lenses (8 mm, f8, 400 ISO). The image was taken in areal of Astronomical institute of Czech republic in Ondřejov.

This was a tree that I sort of stumbled upon while hiking around in Arches National Park, in the dark. I saw it’s silhouette against the light pollution of Moab in the background and coupled with the rising Milky Way on the horizon, I knew it would make for a dramatic scene. I’d battled fast moving clouds all night but in this case, I think the cloud movement adds to the shot a bit.

I'm another first time SA* poster...

This image of NGC 6888 was taken in Central Oregon in June and July of this year using a Planewave CDK17, Paramount ME, Apogee U16M and AstroDon 3nm filters.

Total exposure time was just under 6 hours.

Processed using PixInsight and CS5.

Using 5 different nights in June I managed to get just over 7 hours together for a deep image of the Trifid. I was surprised by the amount of stuff around the nebula itself which I think is not often imaged so deep.

Good work. Very nicely detailed and processed

Hi. Here is first image posting here at Starship Asterisk. I hope this works.
I took it on the 7/7/12 at around 1.45pm. Luck was on my side as i happened to go outside and saw a plane about 90 deg away from the sun. So i quickly setup the scope, pulled the battery off charge, fitted the camera to the scope, pointed to the sun and crossed the fingers. Luckily the focus was already set from a previous moon imaging session as i had literally seconds to spare.

For the fourth time this year, A dim star has erupted into prominence in the constellation Sagittarius, the Archer. Unlike the others, however, none of which got brighter than magnitude 9½, this one has rocketed from anonymous obscurity to magnitude 7.8. It's a bit unusual to have several appear in the same constellation.
WO ZenithStar ED80II, P/B LX200ACF 12 in. OTA, CGE mount, ST2000xm ccd, AO8, CFW9, Astronomik LRGB filter set.
