The Meteor and the Flower Moon by Radical Retinoscopy, on Flickr

A bright meteor along with the full "flower" moon are seen illuminating the Lancaster, PA countryside. The image was made of 415 twenty second exposures (about 2.5 hours). Each image was taken with a Canon T2i (f/5.0 with a Sigma 10-20 mm lens @ 14 mm / ISO 400) and stacked using StarStax. This must have been some meteor! I unfortunately must have been looking away but at least it was captured in the image.

My submission for APOD.

Shot on 5/31/2013 at Sparks Lake in the Central Oregon Cascade Mountains, just outside Bend, Oregon. It's a rare opportunity for us to see such strong Aurora in this part of Oregon. Most people never even know it is happening when it does.

Here is the JPG upload that is below the 400k size limit -

Badlands Panorama - A 3 shot vertical Milky Way panorama, taken 6-1-13, in the Badlands of South Dakota. There was a lot of green and some red airglow. Faint red Aurora was seen earlier in the North.

Milky Way panorama over Yosemite Valley.
I have been wanting to do a panorama of the Milky Way for a while now, so here is my very first one! This is three shots stitched together to make one big one and shows the Milky Way over Royal Arches, North Dome, Washington's Column, Half Dome, Panorama Cliffs, and Glacier Point as seen from the Ahwahnee Meadow last night.
