1% from New Moon and Mercury
On August 5, 2013 at 5:16AM I captured this nice image of a Crescent
that is 1% from New Moon. Mercury is also in this picture in the upper
left at the edge of the longer cloud. Picture was taken at Bradley
Beach, New Jersey.

We have specially launched a probe into the stratosphere to take pictures of the moon and the sun. The height of about 31 km.

The plumes of NGC 5557 have a diameter of 1.3 million light years making them longer than the 1.1 million light year long tidal tails of the Superantennae galaxy!
In the image, to the right is the overlapping galaxy pair of NGC 5544-5 and near the right edge is the edge on galaxy NGC 5529. They can be seen more clearly in the following closeups by Adam Block:

This isn't an image. An appropriate photo would have to be procured. Reading Luca's blog entry on how he almost drowned was definitely a "wow" moment for me which is what is sought after for APODs. http://blogs.esa.int/luca-parmitano/201 ... -frontier/
