Here is a Youtube video I created from stills and timelapses that I captured in the Atacama Desert, near San Pedro de Atacama.
The opening sequence shows the Milky Way in LRGB and Ha. Please select HD!

Uranus 26-27 August 2014

Post by George Tarsoudis » Wed Aug 27, 2014 5:26 pm

At last night I have a very clear night, I take 3 videos each about 30 min, here is my animation to see the movements of planet Uranus.
This movie includes only 2 images, it is nonetheless apparent movement in the gas planet's atmosphere.
Many people say the images from the planet Uranus may be artifacts, because the planet is far from the Earth, but this is not correct.

360 Degree Startrail Panorama
Copyright: György Soponyai

My second all-sky startrail photo was taken between 17th and 24th August. Dömös is a village in the Danube Bend (Dunakanyar) located 45 km north from Budapest. The Dunakanyar is often considered as one of the most beautiful part of river Danube where it flows between Börzsöny Mountain and Visegrád Mountain.

I started the project on evening of 16th August by taking two hours of exposure turning the camera to northern direction towards the Börzsöny Mountain however the air was very humid and cloudly and I was not sastisfied with the poor result. On the next two nights the sky was crystall-clear so I went on photographing the southeastern and southwestern part of the scene. Every evening I started the photo session four minutes earlier so the visible position of stars were the same.
On the third night many friends of mine joined for baking some bacon, you can spot us in the southern part of the photo. :)

When I started processing the raw images it became obvious that it's impossible to make a good-looking result by using the first night's photos. So I went back to Dömös on 24th August in order to re-take the photos of the northern sky. In the previous six days the water level of the Danube decreased making the photo alignment complicated. But here is the result at last.

Hi, my first post here :)

"Solar Night" (HD link- http://500px.com/photo/81243021/)
This is the reason I pleasurably spend so much time behind my camera, stay up late and wake up early. Capturing the calm lake and the bright glow of the milky way with its interstellar dust giving it contrast was good enough, but to have witnessed the Aurora Australis coming to visit us was even better. The solar flares from our bright ball of fiery light were enough to still give us a display at night. The milky way is almost as old as the universe itself.
I really like the shape of this old swampy tree pictured here.

"Heavenly Divine" - (Best viewed here: http://500px.com/photo/81191785)

Pictured here is a 360 degree panorama taken at Lake Ellesmere, Canterbury, New Zealand.
To the right you can see the glow from Christchurch city, and to the left you can see the awesome glow from the Aurora Australis.
It's not everyday, or every year for that matter that we get to see this awesome display of light from the heavens so far North!
My new Canon 6D and lenses arrived just in time!!!
I hope you like this as much as I do, I sacrificed dry shoes to get this shot!

I have prepared a new version by enhancing the contrast, even though I lose some details on the edges. I think it is now more appealing. What do you think?

The Missing Observer
www.dariogiannobile.com
Copyright: Dario Giannobile Once the courtyard of our farmhouses were places where people met and talked about the strenuous day of work in the fields. May be they stayed sit looking at the clear and dark sky. Nowadays these places are abandoned and no one is looking at the sky any more. That's the reason why the chair is empty and the mirror reflects the sky that the missing observer would have looked at. The red light creates a surreal atmosphere about a sky that is seen but not abserved at the same time.
