Over the years I have seen just about everything on the beaches of Cape May,NJ (Especially at night haha) but tonight I witnessed a first, Train tracks!! I know crazy cool right? The big buzz around town is how the big storm from last week washed/eroded enough sand away to uncover these tracks near sunset beach. Knowing me I took it upon myself to photograph them under the majestic night sky, Hope you all enjoy it! (Taken on 11/10/14)

Amazing image that could only be made better by being north up!

For anyone wondering, the galaxy in question is the Large Magellanic Cloud.

Milky Way over Moon Valley
http://rafaeldefavari.com
Copyright: Rafael Defavari

Four Galaxies can be seen simultaneously on this panoramic picture - all of them easily visible to the naked eye from a dark sky far away from big cities - The Large Magellanic Cloud, on the left; the Small Magellanic Cloud, right above and to the right from its galaxy sister; the arc of our Milky Way at the center; and Andromeda Galaxy on the far right of the image.

The picture was taken on October 18th, 2014, from a point near San Pedro de Atacama known as Coyote Stone. On the backgroung one can see the city lights from San Pedro, aswell as the small villages of Socaire and Toconao, and a tortuous road that connects the city of Calama to San Pedro.

Vale de la Luna, Atacama - Chile.

Night On The Ridge

http://theartofnight.com
Copyright: Mark Gee

ImageNight On The Ridge by markg, on Flickr

I shot on the west coast of Wellington, New Zealand as the galactic core of the Milky Way was beginning to dip towards the horizon. The white triangular glow coming up from the horizon is the Zodiacal Light, which is caused by space dust scattering sunlight in the zodiacal cloud. It was amazing up there on the ridge that night under a sky full of stars - it's something everyone should do every now and then.
