NGC 2362 (aka The Mexican Jumping Star cluster)

Becasue its bright central star (4.39) this object is also referred as the Tau Canis Majoris cluster. The main star has an estimated mass between 40 to 50 solar masses. It is a luminous super giant with absolute magnitude of -7 or 50.000 solar luminosities. Tau Canis Majoris is sometimes known as the "Mexican Jumping Star" because it can appear to jump arround with respect the other stars. The cluster contains about 60 stars and it is 25 millions old in age. A sweet visual target, even from urban skies. Although it's small size, this open cluster can be glimpsed with any type of telescope. It was discovered by Giovanni Battista Hodierna in 1654.

Hi, I do not know if this this post can go here. I had the audacity to put together six photographs of the site "Project Apollo Archive" (flickr). The photos were of the Apollo XII (AS12-46-6746 to AS12-46-6751). I could make a very interesting view.

It's really valuable material !!!
Thank you very much!

Helix Nebula (81.75 hours of integration)

Copyright: Paul Haese

This image taken over 28 nights. This image contains 81.75 hours of data. Of interest within the nebula are the detailed shells extending out to the very first eruptions. There are quite a few galaxies visible in the image too.

M33 Galaxy
From Wikipedia: The Triangulum Galaxy is a spiral galaxy approximately 3 million light-years (ly) from Earth in the constellation Triangulum. It is catalogued as Messier 33 or NGC 598, and is sometimes informally referred to as the Pinwheel Galaxy, a nickname it shares with Messier 101. The Triangulum Galaxy is the third-largest member of the Local Group of galaxies, which includes the Milky Way, the Andromeda Galaxy and about 44 other smaller galaxies. It is one of the most distant permanent objects that can be viewed with the naked eye.

Hi :)

I wanted to share my latest work. It's a timelapse of the latest lunar eclipse, 4:30 hours in 18 seconds, and it clearly shows the eclipsed Moon traveling through the sky against the starry sky:

Unfortunately, some clouds came into view for a brief period of time but overall one can appreciate the whole eclipse.

This work required quite a lot of planning and effort (documented in the video description), and IMHO it paid out. Hope you like it as much as I do :)

Clear skies!

Sebastian.
