Image HEAPOW: Ornaments (2017 Dec 25)
The cosmos ornaments itself in many harmonious ways. Some of those ways are shown in the image above. This image is a rendition of our Galaxy based upon 10 years of observations by the INTEGRAL gamma-ray observatory. In these 10 years of observations INTEGRAL provided images and spectra of weird, high-energy sources like X-ray binaries, black holes, neutron stars, and other strange objects. The image above shows a rather unusual view of all INTEGRAL detected sources (embedded in an artistic Galaxy representation) seen from behind the Galactic Center, facing towards our home Sun.
