APOD 10 May 2006

Post by Indigo_Sunrise » Wed May 10, 2006 11:05 am

In the description, it talks about a "prominent red knot on the right", but none of the red knots on the right are especially prominent, IMHO. Was the red knot towards the left the one that was supposed to be referred to? That one is very prominent.
Any clarity would be appreciated....

Yes, I'm sure they meant the one on the left.

This really is a magnificent photo. It makes me wonder what the view of the Milky Way must be like from the LMG!

The Tarantula Nebula is left above the galaxy centre.

It has been awhile since we saw the latest HST photo of Supernova 1987A in LMC. I wonder how far the blast wave has travelled by now. The last time I saw, it had lit up the inner ring.

Thanks for the responses/links. I sorta figured it was a typo of sorts, but just wanted verification.
