July 26 pic of Saturn moon

Post by erison » Tue Jul 26, 2005 3:20 pm

Could this be a capture comet and the dark spot holes to the interior from previous out gassing episodes?

The answer is simple. It's like our moon: http://moon.google.com/ (zoom all the way in).

I agree with erison. Hyperion looks to me like a well-worn comet that has warmed in its wandering close to the sun and now has been captured by Saturn and its crowd.

All of the holes in Hyperion's surface look more like outgassing jet orifices than impact craters.
