How to create movie files

Post by RJN » Fri Nov 12, 2004 10:17 pm

Here is how to create movie files:

First, log onto the NSL number cruncher machine. I will not give this address to shield it from potential hackers -- Wellesley knows it. This is a Linux machine (but it doesn't bite). (Byte, maybe, but not bite.)

Next go to the directory you are interested in creating the movie for. For example mk/mk040101/ . At the Linux command prompt, type

convert mk*a.jpg movie-mk040101.gif

Etc. for all the 0401 files for all observatories (for example, so that we can compare them for each month and not have to wait for yearly runs).

Please post to the Asterisk if there are any problems. Wellesley just came into my office and understands this so you can email him as well. Please don't delete anything. If you make a mistake just let it be -- call Wellesley or me and we will delete it.
