Styers: Blue Sky Auroras -- Which would make the best APOD?

Post by owlice » Wed Apr 07, 2010 1:44 am

These pictures were taken on April 5. The photographer John Styers notes that it's very unusual for an aurora to be so bright that it shows up when the sky is blue, and that in almost a decade in the interior of Alaska, he's seen this phenomenon only four times.

Voting is open for three days.

Gosh, these are pretty! There are additional images of the aurora with the blue sky on pages three and four of his gallery if anyone would like to see more.
