A solar eclipse photo (gray and white) from the Williams College Expedition to Easter Island in the South Pacific (July 11, 2010) was embedded into an image of the Sun’s outer corona taken by the Large Angle Spectrometric Coronagraph (LASCO) and shown in red false color. LASCO uses a disk to blot out the bright sun and the inner corona so that the faint outer corona can be monitored and studied. Further, the dark silhouette of the moon was covered with an image of the Sun taken in extreme ultraviolet light at about the same time by NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO). The composite brings out the correlation of structures in the inner and outer corona.

Re: 2010's total eclipse of the Sun
I think Daniel captured some of the most amazing photos of the eclipse, the two photos with the Andes are completely out of this world! http://www.astro.uni-bonn.de/~dfischer/ ... index.html
Re: Images of 2010's total eclipse of the Sun
There are many videos from El Calafate on You tube, i think this has the best exposure - color (the sound is poor):

Here a video with a totally eclipsed sun setting in the mountains during totality:

Eclipse captured by RocketCam in GEO
This is from the RocketCam system that has been operating continuously in GEO onboard the Echostar-11 spacecraft, and was sent in by Rex Ridenoure, http://www.EclipticEnterprises.com. The video clip was recorded by astronomy enthusiast and DISH Networks subscriber Tom Kasner in Pennsylvania.
