Welcome to the world of Mac! I switched (back; my first computer was an Apple II) about six and a half years ago. My little iBook died last Friday (the logic board ~~ sniff ~~ ) so I now type to you from a MacBook Pro. This event has made me a forever-fan of Time Machine. I plugged the external drive into the new laptop when asked to when it was initializing, and all my applications, email, photos, music, etc. and so on were ported over to the new machine seamlessly. It was beautiful!!!

Not that that answers your question, but this might: http://www.pure-mac.com/astronomy.html

I use Equinox 6. Never used anything else, so I can't compare it to anything else. A free demo is available.
