Re: Submissions: 2020 October
Absolutely one of our best nights stargazing at Craters of the Moon National Monument in Idaho. Who's your favorite person to get outdoors and adventure with? I think one of the most exciting feelings as a photographer is knowing you created a special shot. That's the yelling and screaming in excitement feeling knowing the conditions and composition lined up how you envisioned the scene in your mind. (single 15 second photo Nikon Z6 and 24mm lens).

Are you new here, Daniel? If you are, I'm very glad to see you here! I really love that picture of the Pleiades. The Pleiades is my favorite cluster for a number of reasons, and your image does it wonderful justice!Daniel Zoliro wrote: ↑Fri Oct 16, 2020 8:15 pm The Pleiades/Subaru/Seven Sisters

Re: NGC 578 in Cetus
Thanks, Mike, that's such a fascinating picture of a beautiful, blue and pink and slightly "twisted" spiral galaxy and a quite amazing-looking yellow background galaxy, which is doing a superb job at impersonating an intruding satellite galaxy of NGC 578!strongmanmike wrote: ↑Fri Oct 16, 2020 10:54 pm At 70 million light years away, NGC 578 floats majestically among many other distant galaxies. Small
pink and blue regions scattered along the spiral arms hint at the star forming going on. One background
galaxy (yellow feature left of the galaxy core) seems to protrude up from the arms of NGC 578 but in
reality it is many millions of light years beyond and we are looking at it "through" NGC 578.

Hi Michael and welcome to Starship Asterisk*! That's a very fine series of lunar eclipse pictures. I love the colors of the largest Moon picture, how the "sunset illumination" is deep red at the Moon's lower right limb, how it becomes orange at upper right, and how the upper left limb is luminous with a pearly blue light!msoutham wrote: ↑Thu Oct 15, 2020 1:08 am Lunar Eclipse 1-20-2019 Timeline
As the Earth's shadow passes over the moon, we are treated to a spectacular light show. During the deepest part of the eclipse, highlighted as the center image, sun light passing through the earth's atmosphere is refracted onto the lunar surface with a hint of hazy blue at upper left.

Just in time for Halloween...
This is a target I have been hoping to process for a while and have always been mesmerized by the intricate filaments and details in the SHO data I've seen. For this version I wanted to accentuate those details while keeping the rich star field and more subtle details around the edges. Overall my goal was to communicate both the turbulent nature of the nebula while nodding to its spooky, hairy namesake.
Data captured from 9/6 - 10/3

Hope you don't mind, Team CielAustral, but I thought your picture looked so great that it deserved to be seen directly on the page of Starship Asterisk*, and not just seen as a boring link. So I uploaded your image as an attachment.
Thanks for keeping pictures reasonably small on these pages, bystander, and thank you for your brilliant image, Team CielAustral!
