M86 in the Virgo Cluster, curious (APOD 25 April 2008)

---------------------------------------------------------------
<<On Vestalia, Vestal Virgins traveled to the rivers to throw from
a wooden bridge small images of men into the waters. This was
done as a sacrifice to the ancient ones to protect the living.>>

June 9 => The feriae of the Vestalia
---------------------------------------------------------------
<<On June 9, 1[86]5, Charles Dickens saw the other first-class train
carriages lying at the bottom of the river bed. With his familiar aplomb
he went returned to his own teetering train carriage, and
took out a travelling flask of brandy as well as his top hat.
He filled his TOP HAT WITH WATER, clambered down the bank,
and then began his work among the injured and the dead.
He found a man with a cracked skull; he gave the man some brandy,
poured a bit of water on his face, and laid him on the grass
beside the stream. The man said only "I am gone," and then died.>>
----------------------------------------------------------------
Dickens died at CADSHILL on JUNE 9, 1870 aged 58;
exactly 5 years after his train accident on JUNE 9, 1865.

Beautiful photo! How many galaxies can be seen here? I counted ten without enhancing the picture.

I count at least 40 in the larger image though about 1/2 of those are faint distant ones

In a recent APOD, we saw a few of the sky including Markarians Eyes, and NGC 4402. Question: what is the bluish 'streak' above Markarians eyes, and below and to the left of NGC4402?

I assume your referring to the 'streak' at 9 o'clock, extreme left center of the photo. Just another galaxy, don't know the designation.
